Before founding EQQE, Heidi spent 12 years as an elementary school teacher, driven by her passion for helping children develop the emotional and intellectual tools needed for success. During this time, she specialized in Social Emotional Learning (SEL), Emotional Intelligence (EQ), and Mindfulness practices, and became trained in Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging (DEIB). She has worked with diverse families and communities and is committed to creating inclusive, welcoming environments.
Heidi now lives with her family in Bend, Oregon, where she enjoys the outdoors and continues to support educators and organizations across the U.S., bringing her expertise in emotional intelligence and collaborative systems to a wide range of sectors.
How EQQE Started
After years of learning about child development, neuroscience, positive teacher and parenting, Heidi witnessed many schools with students and school communities that were thriving academically, socially and emotionally. Yet, this was not the norm.
More often, Heidi witnessed schools, where teachers and administrators had the desire, the knowledge and the skills to implement positive learning strategies into their classroom and schools, but the policies were such that they either worked in silos behind closed doors or resigned themselves to the current policies.
Heidi has always been very involved with the schools where she worked, through sharing ideas and collaboration, training teachers and families and participating on task forces. She gave 150% into her students and found that she wanted to make a bigger difference for school communities. She made the decision to leave the classroom in 2019 to support schools in making positive changes.
Starting out in the California Bay Area, Heidi co-founded SELSolutions and began working with schools and education organizations. Since moving to Bend, Oregon she went out on her own to start EQQE.
